Crime Prevention
Overview
The mission of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention team is to create an active and involved partnership with our community and provide resources, education and information to assist in keeping our community, families, and businesses safe. Our Crime Prevention team can offer tips and programs effective in preventing crime. With community education we address the causes of crime and reduce the opportunities for crime to occur. Prevention is a cost-effective method to lower costs of crime to individuals, neighborhoods, and communities. We believe that by working together, crime can be prevented.
We provide services throughout the unincorporated areas of Sonoma County. While normal office hours are Monday - Thursday, 8:00am - 6:00pm, this team can often be found working weekends and evenings.
The Community Services Officers are primarily responsible for coordinating community related events such as: Coffee With A Cop, Neighborhood Watch, Hall of Justice school tours, Digital Safety presentations for youth and parents and coordinating our yearly Community Academy, Academia Communitaria, and Youth Academy. All year long, we also participate in many community events throughout Sonoma County.
