Assistant Sheriff Lorenzo Dueñas
Assistant Sheriff Lorenzo Dueñas is a 25-year veteran of law enforcement. Lorenzo started his career with the Healdsburg Police Department and worked as a Police Officer for approximately 3 years. In 1989, he joined the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy Sheriff.
Since his hire, Lorenzo has held a variety of assignments with the Sheriff's Office. He was one of the first Deputy Sheriffs assigned to the Community Oriented Policing Unit in Roseland before becoming a Detective with the Violent Crimes Investigations Unit and then a Field Training Officer. After his promotion to Sergeant, Lorenzo supervised several units including the Field Training Unit, Helicopter Search and Rescue Unit, as well as the Multi-Agency Gang Task Force. He then promoted to Lieutenant and served in the Personnel and Investigation Bureaus. In January of 2010, Lorenzo was promoted to Assistant Sheriff and currently commands the Investigations, Court Security, Transportation Bureaus, and the Law Enforcement Division.
Lorenzo served 6 years active duty in the United States Marine Corps and later earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts and Science from the Santa Rosa Junior College and a Bachelor of Public Administration degree, with a concentration in Law Enforcement Leadership from the University of San Francisco. Lorenzo is a graduate of the Sherman Block Leadership Institute, presented by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.), and has obtained his P.O.S.T. Advanced, Supervisory, and Management certificates. In 2009, Assistant Sheriff Dueñas graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and is currently an active member of the FBI National Academy Association.
The Law Enforcement Division consists of many Bureaus and Units, all of which provide law enforcement services in one form or another. Assistant Sheriff Lorenzo Dueñas commands this Division. This Division is overwhelming comprised of deputy sheriff's, but is supported by a support staff of Clerks, Secretaries and Community Services Officers.
